Twenty20

I am not normally a huge fan of cricket, nor of big business at work. But isn’t the auction of cricket players for India’s Professional League most fascinating!?

Cricket, Bollywood film stars and big bucks have come together to break with tradition.

Our cricket players – normally treated as kings – are reduced to mere pawns to be auctioned.

India – with its poverty and dust – is the site where millions of dollars change hands in front of the world’s television cameras.

And film stars – who may be idolised but are not normally considered the ‘brains’ behind the operation – become the team selectors.

What fun.
